We have placed these three publications together , because they form a little series , showing an excellent example of the right progress of Christian education : —the first part of which should give a full and interesting acquaintance with the main facts of the gospel history;—the second , a connected view of the same , as
they illustrate the character and mission of the Redeemer of mankind ; so that he may be set forth in all his beauty of holiness , Christ the power of God , and the wisdom of God ;— -the third , a closer and more systematic application to the heart of those principles which have been learned by word , and by the most perfect of all examples .
1 . Is a series of outline engravings , chiefly from pictures by the old masters , beautifully executed , and accompanied by references to the portions of the New Testament , which they are intended to illustrate . Examined by children , together with the accounts to which they refer , carefully and attentively , if under judicious superintendence so much the better , they could not fail to make a ^ strong ~* and ~ tlerig h " t * f uT impression upon their minds , and to fix in their memories those facts which are to be their food for earnest and rejoicing meditation all their days .
2 . An excellent work . We began it because it is written by Mr . Ware . We proceeded because it won upon us page by page . We finished regretting that we had done so soon .
