Money Market And City Intelligence Frida...
MONEY MARKET AND CITY INTELLIGENCE Friday Evening , Deeember 7 , 1855 . Since last week , there has been fi very considerable rise in the Funds Jiumours of all kinds have been circulated - each one contradicting its predecessor . Austria is said to be . as last year the mediator between Russia and the Allied Power * . The terms proposed by Austria having been agreed to by the two cabinets of London and Paris ? , are represented to luive been despatched to Vienna . The Emperorof France and Lord 1 ' almcrston hnving givi'n a reluct-. int consent , we may lie led to believe that the terms are somewhat to © favourable for Russia . These reports , and a varicy of detail as to the terms , have been the causes of the great rise in the Funds . The bear party , so obs'inate in its disbelief of any negotiations tending to peace , gave way and closed their Jieeounts , and went round on the other tack . As yet not one word of truth has been found in these reports , and a few hardy veterans of bears linve recommenced their downward course . The opinion gains ground that it is but a '' lour tie finesse " of those respectable gamblers io 0 uld and De Morny to obtain a temporary rise in the Kentes , and enable them to sell with greater advantage . The reality of the Hull party being in the ascendant is shown by the enorinous rate of 5 £ having been paid yesterday for continuations For Jan , 10 th opining Consuls have been done at 91 . J £ . Turkish Gper cent Stock , which remained so long at 70 and 80 , lias gone up with Consols , and lias touched 8 G . The Railways have followed suit . Eastern Counties remain rather steady , Great U ' tvtern a shade firmer . The Foreign lines are linn ; Great Western of Canada in advance . Mines are very quiet , hardly any business doing . Crystal Palace shims nre much firmer . An interesting letter from Mr . Sotheby , showing how it may be made a Tii'Olitublo and paying concern , has appeared . Consols close firm at four o ' clock—for money , 90 , 00 * ; for 10 th January , QOg , 'JO ? . The Eastern Counties Railway meeting of proprietor ! has taken place ; but the iixiiKiiationoi the shareholders against the managers allowed itself so unmistakeably that they « ould hardly get a hearing . The report of the select committee luis been adopted by an immense majority ; but is referred to the scrutiny o / 'tho ballot .
Corn Market. Mark-Lane, Friday, December...
CORN MARKET . Mark-lane , Friday , December 7 , 1855 . The arrivals of all descriptions of grain during the week have been quite trifling , yet the trade has been of the moat sluggish character . Foreign wheat is hold firmly , and the little business doing ia at about former rates . Barley of Hecondnry qualities and outs meet an exceedingly slow Rale at Monday ' s decline of 2 a . from last week . Beans and 1 ' eas nre Is . cheaper than last week .
