W London, Friday Evening, July 10,1857. ...
w London , Friday Evening , July 10 , 1857 . The languid state of the markets this past weelo is accounted for by tno unfavourable state of monetary affairs m Trance and the continued uncertainty as to India . The telegraph , can hardly reach us before Saturday evening or Sunday . On Monday , therefore , there must be some decided C Mcm ^ y has been decidedly easier , both inside the -Stock Exchange and elsewhere . The advices of large freights of cold having sailed and the more moderate demand for gold from the Continent must have had a beneficial effect upon the funds and shares , but the news of next week may be of so serious a nature as to send the funds down two per cent . The Bulls in many instances have been afraid of continuing their accounts , and the heavy sales consequent upon closing have affected the market . . in foreien stock Peruvians have shown a marked
improvement , for , under the present conditions , it assumes tne form almost of a guaranteed stock . Foreign share market has been dull , the gloominess of the Paris Bourso having favoured the' Bears . * In East Indian shares there has been very little business . Great Western of Canada and Grand Trunks have recovered from the late fall , but are still weak . In the heavy share market business has been nominal ana hardly any alteration in price from day to day . Caledonians and Dovers are tolerably firm . Berwicks and Yorks some-In Joint Bank Shares there is a small business doing among the better sort . Miscellaneous shares are but sparely dealt 111 . Royal Mail Steam has made some improvement consequent upon a proposed amalgamation with an Australian steam company . . In Mining shares there has been some inquiry after Trelawriy , United Mines , Cobre Copper , and Linares . Santiago meeting presented a gloomy report , and the shares are flat . Tlae real sales of money stock have been considerable in ConBols , and have rather dampediihe market this morning .

MAJOR'S IAfPEOVEMENTS in VETERINARY SCIENCE . "If progress is daily naade in Medical Science by thoso whose duty it is to study tho diseases to which the human flesh is heir , it would seem that improvements in Veterinary art quite keep pace with it , as is manifest on a visit to tho well-known Horse Infirmary of Mr , Major , in Oockspurstreet . Hero incipient and chronic lameness is discovered and cured with a facility truly astonishing , while the cllicacy of tho remedies , and tho quickness of their action , appear to have revolutionised the whole system of firing anil blistering . Among the most recent proofs of the euro of spavins by Mr . Major , wo may mention Cannobio , tho winner of the Metropolitan , and second favourite for the Derby , and who is now as sound as his friends and backers ccmUl desire . And by tho advertisement of Mr . Major ' s pamphlet " in another column , wo perceive that other equally miraculous cures aro sot forth , which place him at tho hoad ot tho Veterinary art in London .
