The Annual Income was . nearly ........... . £ 120 , 000 The new policies issued during the last 5 years are as follows : — . ¦ 5 , 411 Policies for £ 2 , 599 , 658 , yielding : £ 110 , 024 in Premiums , showin"" an average yearly amount of new business of more than HALF A MILLION STERLING . The Society has paid claims on 1 , 002 Policies , assuring iJ 426 , 044 since its establishment , in 1841 . . Assurances are effected at home or abroad on healthy lives at as moderate rates as the moat recent data will allow . . ... .. INDIA . —Officers in the Army and civilians proceeding- to India may insure their lives on the most favourable terms , ¦ and every possible facility is afforded for the transaction of business in India . - ¦ . ¦ INVALID LIVES assured on scientifically constructed tables toased on extensive data , and a reduction in the premium is made when the causes for an increased rate of premium have ceased . Policies issued free of stamp duty and every charg-e but the : premiums . . . ; In the event of death during the days of grace , the risk binding on the Society if premium paid before the days of grace expire . - Evcry information may be obtained at the chief office , or on application to any of the' Society ' s- agents . THE DIRECTORS OF THE STANDARD LIFE ASSURANCE COMPANY Request attention to the report of the Company for the year 1 S 58 . A printed jjopy can bo obtained on application at the Company ' s offices in London , Edinburgh , or Dublin , or to any of the agents in England , Scotland , or Ireland . The following results aro stated in the report : — The new assurances effected during 1 S 58 exceed £ . 100 , 000 , nnd the amount during the last 10 years exceeds , JE 6 , 000 , 000 . The income of tho Company is upwards of £ 275 , 000 ; and The accumulated fund exceeds considerably £ 1 , 600 , 000 . Tho Standard was established in 1825 , and the profits realised have been divided on five occasions , 1830 , 1840 , 1645 , 1850 , nnd 18 . > 5 . Tho sixth division of profits will take place next year , and there is an advantage in joining the Company before the olbso of tho books in tho presqnt year , as tlio benefit of two years' entry to the profit scheme will bo secured . Attention is specially directed to the fuct that the Company have lately introduced into their policies' certain terms' and conditions which mako thorn or increased value as the basis of marriage settlements , family provisions , and all transactions where it . is essential that the contract should be , as far as possible , a complete security against nil contingencies .
