THE NEW QUARTERLY REVIEW , and Digest of Current Literature . Price Half-a-prown . The New Quarterly Review recurs to the principles upon which quarterlies were first started . It contains in each number , not half a dozen essays upon books long since read or neglected , but a complete review of the literature of the preceding quarter , and , careful notices of all works that are worthy of any attention . The object of the projectors of this periodical has been , and will ever be , to heighten the standard of public taste in this country , and to place a full knowledge of the course of literature within the reach of every one . Their desire has been that for half-a-crown a quarter every one may have a full record of the performances of literary men—that for ten shillings , all may have in this review , bound in a volume , a perfect history of the literature of the past year , and a complete record of that year ' s achievements in science and the arts .
