AJOR'S IMPROVEMENTS in VETERINARY SCIENCE . "If progress is daily made in Medical Science by thoso whose duty it is to study the diseases to which the human flesh is heir , it would seem that improvements in Voteriaary art quite keen pace with it , as is manifest on a visit to tlio well-known Horse Infirmary of Mr . Major , in Cockspurstreet . Here incipient and chronic lameness is discovered and cured with a facility truly astouishing , while the ellicacy of tho remodies , and the quickness of their action , nppoartohavo revolutionised the whole system of firing and blistering . Among the most recent proofs of tho euro of spavins by Mr . Major , we may mention Cannobio , the winner of tho Metropolitan , and second favourite for the Dcrbr , and who is now as sound as his friends and backers coulil desire . And by tho advertisement of Mr . Major ' s pamphlet iu another column , we perceive that other equally miraculous cures are set forth , which place him at tho head or tho Veterinary art iu London . w London , Friday Evening , July 10 , 1857 . Ths lauKuid state of the-, markets this past week is accounted for by the unfavourable state of monetary affairs in Prance and the continued uncertainty as to India . The telegraph can hardly reach us before Saturday evening or Sunday . On Monday , therefore , there must be some decided Ch Mon e ey has been decidedly easier , both inside the Stock Exchange and elsewhere . The advices of large freights of cold havine sailed and the more moderate demand for gold S £ m the Continent must have had a beneficial effect upon the funds and shares , but the news of next week may beof so serious a nature as to send the funds down two Ser cent The Bulls in many instances have been afraid of continuing their accounts , and the heavy sales consequent upon closing have affected the market . Tu foreign stock Peruvians have shown a marked im-Drovement , for , under the present conditions , it assumes the K almost of a guaranteed stock . Foreign share market has been duR , the gloominess of the Paris Bourse having favoured the 'Bears ! ' In East Indian shares there has been raw little business . Great Western of Canada and Grand Trunks have recovered from the late fall , but are still weak . In the heavy share market business has been nominal and hardJy any alteration in price from day to day . Caledonians and JJovers are tolerably firm . Berwicks and Yorks somela Joint Bank Shares there is a small business doing among the better sort . Miscellaneous shares are but sparely dealt in . Royal Mail Steam has made some improvement consequent upon a proposed amalgamation with an Australian steam company . In Mining shares there has been some inquiry after 32 rekwny , United Mines , Cobre Copper , and Linares . Santiago meeting presented a gloomy report , and the-Bhares are flat . The real sales of money stock have been considerable in Consols , and have rather damped the market this morning . - ' .
