London Corn Exchange, Mondat, Dec. 8.— I...
London Corn Exchange , Mondat , Dec . 8 . — In the past week the arrivals of English wheat up to our market ,. coastwise , were on a limited scale , and of yery middling quality , the bulk of . the samples proving greatly out of . condition . By land carriage very ^ few samples came to hand . Of Irish oats the receipts were by ¦ no means large , though they have proved fully adequate to meet the wants of the dealers . The imports of foreign grain were , comparatively speaking , small . Fresh up to-day very little English
wheat came to hand ; hence the stands were scantily filled with samples ; Owing , however , to the rumours afloat on the subject of a contemplated alteration in the corn-laws , the wheat trade was almost paralysed ; indeed , such was the heaviness in the trade that some time elapsed before a single sale was concluded . We have , therefore , to quote a decline in the value of the finest parcels of both red and white of 2 s ., in that of the middling and inferior qualities of quite 3 s . per quarter , at which a clearance was not effected , many of the buyers refusing to purchase except at further reduced currencies . As might , therefore , be expected , the market closed with even a further downward
movement in the quotations than we have above quoted . Of free foreign . wheat the show was by no means large , but the before-mentioned causes operated against sales , and the currencies suffered an abatement of from Is . to in some instances 3 s . per quarter , and at which amount of depression scarcely any gales were concluded .. For wheat under lock there was scarcely any inquiry ; indeed , such was the heaviness in the trade , that prices must be considered almost nominal . The show of English and foreign barley was moderately good , but of very inferior quality . In some cases , selected parcels fit for malting were taken at about late rates ; but all other descriptions
declined in value is . to 2 s . per quarter , and a large ? o rtionof such was left overfor Wednesday ' s market , f e had only a limited quantity of malt on offer , vet the sale for that article was very dull , at a decline " of Is . per quarter . Although the show of oats was by no means large , the oat trade ruled extremely dull , and the c urrencies declined from Is . to 2 s . per quarter . The almost only quality in demand was feed . The supply of beans was moderate , while the inquiry was very dull , and the quotations fell from Is . to 2 s . per quarter . Peas of all kinds , the show of which was large , moved off heavily at a reduction in value of from Is . to 2 s . per quarter . Flour very dull , and the turn lower .

Djec . 8 . —The past week ' s imports of live stock into Loudon have been again extensive ,, notwithstanding the present advanced period of the year ; we have received 34 oxen per the John Bull and Caledonia , steamers from Hamburg , 77 oxen , , 101 cows , 623 sheep , and 2 calves , per the Giraffee , Attwood , and the Commercial Packet from Rotterdam ; and 113 cows , together with 142 sheep by the Rapid , from Harlingen . At the outports 60 sheep and 07 beasts have been imported from Hull . To-day we had on . offer ISO foreign beasts , and 350 sheep in , generall y speaking , fair condition . Nearly the whole found buyers at full prices . Fresh up to our market this morning the arrival of beasts from our own grazing districts were large , but for the most part of middling quality , if we except the droves from the western counties . The attendance of both town and country buyers being large , the beef trade ruled firm , at prices fully equal to those obtained on this dayse ' nnight , and at which a good clearance was effected . From the northern counties we received about 2 , 000 shorthorns ; from the eastern 300 shorthorns and Scots ; from the . western and midland counties TOO Ilerel ' ords , Devons , runta , < fec . ; from other pa > ts of England 400 of various kinds ; from Ireland 12 ft beasts , and from Scotland 100 Scots . Although the numbers of sheep were on the increase , the mutton trade waa firm at full prices , the best old Downs readily producing 5 s . per 8 lbs . Very few calves wore on offer , while the veal trade was firm at Friday ' s advance . In pigs a steady business was transacted , at full prices . TChe great Christmas market will be held here on Monday next .

BEAD OF CATTLE ON SALE . ( From the Books ofthe Clerk of the Market . ) Beasts , 3 , 441-Sheep , 25 , 400—Calves , 59—Pigs , 381 , Richmond Corn Market , Dec . 6 . —We had a very large supply of grain in our market to-day , and many of the samples very bad . Wlxeat sold , from as . to Gs . ; oats , 2 s . 9 d . to 4 s . 6 d . ; barley , 4 s . to is . 3 d . ; beans , 6 s . to 6 s . 6 d ., per bushel . Liverpool : CoRtf Mahlet , Mokdav . Dbc . 8 . —Since last Tuesday we have had ' good supplies of flour and oatmeal from Ireland , but moderate of wheat and oats from the same quarter . From Canada we hare received 2 , 873 quarters of wheat , and 11 , 500 barrels
of flour . There have been no arrivals ox any consequence from foreign ports . Tho recent fresh agitation of the Corn Law question has served further to depress the grain trade here , and the business in any article , during the past week , has been on . a very limited scale , with lower prices generally . On Friday hew wheat was offered at a decline of 3 d . to 4 d ., and on old 2 d . per bushel ; on flour Is . to 2 s . per sack and barrel ; Id . per bushel on oats , and Is . ptr load on oatmeal . In the bonded market no transactions of moment have transpired . United States flour is offered at 30 s . per barrel , Manchester Cos !* Markkt , Saturday , Dec . 6—In the early part of tlie week there was only a
moderate consumptive demand for flour , and where sales were effected , it was necessary to submit to a reduction of fully is . per sack on all but the choicest quality . In oats and oatmeal there was likewise but little passing , and the latter article might have been purchased on lower terms . Subsequently , the revival of rumours relative to an abolition ofthe Corn Laws at an early period had the effect of causing an almost total suspension of business in every article , and prices were , in consequence , rendered altogether nominal . The transactions in our market this morning were so exceedingly limited in extent that it is not possible to report a change in the quotations of any article .
Hum . Corn Market , Tuesday . —During the past week there has been more disposition to buy free wheats at the prices of the last week , but any attempt to advance in price has not been met by buyers , consequently the trade has been by no means brisk ; bonded neglected . At to-day ' s market the supply of wheat from the farmers is moderate , and the prices of last week are unaltered . All sorts of spring corn the same as last quoted . Linseed and linseed cakes are both quieter . The same may be said of rapeseed and rapeseed cakes . Bones held very firmly . In guano not much doing . Birmingham Corn Exchange , Wednesday , — During the present week English wheat has
maintained its value , and old , in some instances , realised Is . per quarter advance . Malting barley no lower , avid fine samples scarce . Oats held for last week ' s prices . Beans Is . per quarter less money . Wakefield Corn Market , Friday . —We have fair supplies of wheat and barley , and moderate of other grain . There was a very limited business done in wheat to-day , and to effect sales a decline of Is . to 2 s . per quarter was submitted to . Fine barley fully as dear , other sorts Is . per quarter cheaper . Beans in Slow request , and prices of new roust be quoted Is . per quarter less than last week . Oats sold at a reduction of id . per stone , and shelling of Cd , per load . Malt firm at late rates .
Newcastle Cory Market , Tuesday . —There was a moderate supply of wheat from the gvovere on Saturday last , with a small arrival coastways ; tho millers selected the best conditioned samp les at Is . per quarter advance , and the damp and inferior kinds met a yeady sale at last week ' s prices . There was nothing done in bonded , but there was more inquiry for free wheat . This morning there was a fair supply of Wheat , but the trade was rather dull upon tho Whole at Saturday ' s prices . Rye was in modera te request . The supply of barley is large , and the best samples only are saleable at last week ' s prices ; other kinds are difficult to quit on low terms . There was a small supply of oats , and all kinds were Is . per quarter higher . In beans and white peas there is little doing , and but few on sale . Flour is slow sale at last week ' s rates .
Liverpool Cattle Market , Monday . —The supply of cattle at market to-day has been smaller than last week , particularly in sheep . We had a numerous attendance of customers ; anvthing good eagerly sought after . Beef 5 i & . to Gd " , mutton CJd . 7 uper lb . Salford New Cattle Market , Wednes da . —The supply of stock good , and the quality an average one . Ihe demand continues extensive , and all firm . Beasts early sold up . ' There was no change in the value of either beef or mutton . But little stock unsold .
Newcastle Cattle Market , Tuesday . —There has been a very small supply of stock at our market today , which met a brisk sale , and prices considerably on the advance ; plent y of buyers , and all soon cleared away !
